First named in 1906 as \u003Cem>blomstrandine\u003C\u002Fem> by Waldemar Christofer Brøgger, in honor of Christian Wilhelm Blomstrand [October 20, 1826 Växjö, Sweden – November 5, 1897 Lund, Sweden], professor of chemistry at the University of Lund, who did the chemical analysis. Brøgger had earlier published a crystallographic description of this material in 1879 from \u003Cl id='2479'>Urstad Feldspar Mine, Hidra, Vest-Agder, Norway\u003C\u002Fl> but then without a chemical analysis.
