The termination is fantastic, and intricately formed i nsmall steppes. The lustre is killer on both sides. This is a MAJOR piece from a pocket of such monsters that came out perhaps 10 years back. I have seen only 3-4 of them trickle back to sale the last few years. This one is ALMOST a perfect piece...it has a slight indentation due to NOT damage but rather contact with another crystal that it grew against, on the lower-left side. If not for that small visual bend, it would be a 10k piece. The beauty of this piece is that no analysis is necessary as it is very clear where the Epidote stops and the Clinozoisite begins. This specimen features several, sharp, lustrous, prismatic, translucent, deep pistachio green crystals of Epidote that sharply grade into gemmier, peach\u002Ftan color termations of Clinozoisite. This is a great example of how two individual mineral species can sometimes occur in the same crystal as is often the case in many Tourmaline species. The first half, *clino-*, comes from the Greek for inclined or oblique. It marks a monoclinic mineral — one whose internal lattice leans, with one axis tilted off the right angle. The second half points to an older relative, zoisite, which it closely resembles.\n\nThat older mineral came first, and it carries a person's name. Abraham Gottlob Werner described zoisite in 1805.
