And it stumps most people at our office. what is it? It is slightly convex, lustrous, jet black, hibonite crystal from the classic locality in Madagascar. I have never seen such a lustrous big one, except an old piece in a French museum as i recall. Most old systematic collections have one or two, but they tend to be 1-2 cm, clunky dull and matte in lustre, and a bit fatter and less symmetric. Frotn and back are shown.
