Setterberg in honor of Wolfgang Xavier Franz Ritter von Kobell [July 19, 1803  München, Germany – November 11, 1882  München, Germany], mineralogist and author\u002Fpoet who specialized in writing in Bavarian dialect. Von Kobell was professor of mineralogy at University of  München beginning in 1826 and in 1855 invented a device (stauroscope) for studying the optical properties of crystals. In 1856, he became the first curator of the Bavarian Museum's mineral collection. Von Kobell also was an early experimenter in photography and photochemical techniques.
