Hydrothermal solutions originating from a granodiorite produced ore bodies localized in limestone units beneath impermeable shales, a process subsequently accompanied by silicification, the latter leading to the formation of jasperoids. The Summit group was one of the largest lead, zinc, and silver producers in the district (McLemore et al., 2001). The upper levels of the mines were highly oxidized and have been completely mined out.
