Törnebohm studied at the Technological Institute 1855-1858, was an assistant geologist and geologist 1859-1873 at Sweden's Geological Survey (SGU), where after the death of Axel Erdmann he served as head in 1870. He undertook a trip to Italy in 1873, where Vesuvius and Predazzo were visited, as well as to Leipzig, where in 1873-1874 at the university he studied petrographic microscopy under Ferdinand Zirkel. At Uppsala University's celebration in 1877, he was awarded an honorary doctor of philosophy. He was a teacher of geology and mineralogy at the Royal Institute of Technology from 1878 and lecturer in the same subjects there from 1885-1897. Succeeding Otto Torell, he was appointed head of SGU and at the same time received the title of professor. This pegmatite region has produced some very good specimens of a few species, such as Törnebohmite-(Ce). This specimen hosts a \"vein\" of grey color Törnebohmite-(Ce) which is wedged between dark (nearly black) bands of Allanite-(Ce) on K-Feldspar matrix. The specimen was reportedly analyzed by Hal Miller in 1974. Hal Miller was the co-author of the famous \"Colorado Mineral Belt\" article in the November\u002FDecember 1976 Issue of the Mineralogical Record.
