The Ge analogue (unnamed) is described by Geier & Ottemann (1970) (see 'UM1970-16-OH:GeMn').","Named after Frans Erik Wickman (21 March 1915, Stockholm, Sweden - 2 January 2003), Swedish mineralogist. He made many contributions regarding the mineralogy of Långban, the type locality of Wickmanite.\r\n\r\nWickman graduated with a licentiate degree in 1943, was a physicist at Bolidens Gruv AB from 1944 to 1946 and an assistant teacher of mineralogy at Stockholm University from 1946 to 1947. He was professor of mineralogy at the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm from 1947 to 1967, of geochemistry at Pennsylvania State University from 1967 to 1974 and of mineralogy and petrology at Stockholm University from 1974 to 1980. Wickman was a member of the Swedish Natural Science Research Council from 1955 to 1962. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in Stockholm in 1952 and was awarded the Sixten Heyman Prize in 1983.\r\n\r\nWickman's research was focused on the structure determination of minerals, and it was he who introduced isotope geology to Sweden. He also devoted himself to meteorite research and was the researcher who first realized that many rounded structures in the Swedish bedrock were formed by meteorite impacts. Wickman was elected a member of the Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1955 and served as its president from 1976 to 1979. He was elected to the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in 1963, to the Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters in 1971 and to the Physiographic Society in Lund in 1973.
