Where it forms, where it's found

Geological setting

In fractures in radiolaritic metacherts and in a schistose metapelite above radiolaritic strata (Italy). In cavities in prehnite in a wollastonite orebody, probably formed by hydrothermal mineralization along fractures (New York).

Prismatic crystals. Also platy aggregates of flattened, pinacoidal crystals. Crystal tabular on (010) and showing the forms (001), (010) and (001).

Lamellar parallel to (010).

Prismatic crystals to 0.2 mm long and as radiating and parallel aggregates (Italy). Platy aggregates of flattened, pinacoidal crystals up to 1 mm across (New York).
