Geological setting

This pegmatite is part of a large-scale pegmatite system considered to branch out from the Sveconorwegian Tørdal A-type granite pluton (Bergstøl and Juve, 1988) but is likely to be unrelated to large-scale magmatism. Primary, accessory phase crystallized from a Sc-rich pegmatitic fluid; the scandium enrichment could be due to anatexis and incorporation of a Sc-rich country-rock (preferred interpretation) or to Sc accumulation in late-stage magmatic fluids by fractionation.
