Hughesite has also been identified on samples from the West Sunday mine, Gypsum Valley, San Miguel County, and the Blue Streak mine in Montrose County, Colorado.

Hughesite occurs as crystalline druses on the sandstone walls, usually in organic-carbon-rich zones, of mine workings and on fracture surfaces at the Sunday mine, Gypsum Valley, San Miguel County, Slick Rock District, Colorado, USA.
