UV response
green fluorescence under short-wave ultraviolet light. This is likely due to ytterbium admixture; ytterbium is known for its (yellow-)green UV luminescence (e.g., Sidike et al. 2003)

Type-locality form

It occurs as an outer zone of tabular crystals to 0.1 x 0.3 x 1 mm in size flattened on (001). The inner zone is made of melansonite. The boundary between the two species is sharp and marked by a thin zone of uranium-bearing melansonite.
