- Morphology
Crystals microscopic laths or tablets, flattened on (001) and bounded laterally by (010) and (110), with a prism angle of 57°; in parallel or radial-fibrous masses; powdery; coatings.
- Type-locality form
Deep red, loose, earthy powder. Also as compact aggregates of separable, shining blades. The earthy variety consists of minute sharply bounded tables about 40 μm long, piled in subparallel groups.
- Comment
Non-standard space-group setting A2/m; data from Cooper et al. (2014). Older data: 12.15, 3.607, 18.44 Å, β = 118.03°.
